Sleek 'Matte Me' Ultra Smooth Lip Cream Review & Swatches

Hi everyone!

Todays little blog post is going to feature a review of these 'Matte Me' Lacquers by Sleek, with a lip swatch of each! I find the consistency of a product is easier to see when swatched on the lips.

Here is the packaging! Sleek matte 'lid', doe foot applicator, square plastic tube. Each tube contains 6ml/0.2fl.oz.

Not tested on animals

Super comparable to Australis Velourlips but more colors and a little less opaque and drying.
Comparable to Lime Crime Velvetines, and comparable to Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipsticks.

I think you can get a good idea of the colors from swatches above. Each shade starts out quite glossy but turns matte within approx 30 seconds of application. Once matte, these do not budge. In fact, they are a little tricky to remove!

You must be careful when you are eating oily food or drinking with these. If they get too wet they can begin to break up on the lip. If you reapply and layer another layer on top… it doesn't leave the best finish.

In fact, it can tend to go a little clumpy and patchy! Removal and re-application is the way to go.

So, unless you are a very careful eater, these are preferred for parties and shopping dates - and if you are opting for a drink or two, make sure to use a straw! They won't transfer on to your dates lips, either. Just sayin'! ;)

These come in 6 shades, read on to hear my thoughts about each one.

Above: Petal 435

Petal is a pale muted pink. It is not bright, and appears quite nude on the lips. It appears a bit glossy in the swatch because this photo was taken immediately after application! They dry down quite fast, and appear VERY matte.

Prep work is a must if you have dry lips, I exfoliated mine well before application. I find that the lighter colors go on a little bit more streaky than the dark shades. I did two coats of this pink and like the outcome, although it does emphasise my fine lines in my lips.

I don't mind too much, as the lines only obvious in close up - and hopefully nobody is looking at my lips that closely! Your lips will look drier while wearing these, but they don't feel uncomfortable at all while wearing them.

The ideal nude for darker skin tones, or people who like a deeper nude tone. I am about an NC25-NC30 depending how tan I am, and its a little bit darker than a nude I would normally wear. It has slight pink undertones and is also a little bit sheerer than the darker tones, like I said before, but that is expected with lighter shades.

The word 'fandango' makes me feel a bit uncomfortable, don't ask why. It just does. Regardless, this is a beautiful fuchsia colour! I would say it leans a bit more pink than purple, but is beautiful anyway! I really love this one, one of my favourites. It isn't too bold either, you can definitely work this in to a neutral look easily for a more wearable look!

Hands down my favourite. It is literally neon. It is amazing. Just buy it. Super bold, but paired with a neutral eye and bronzed checks…. UGH. This one doesn't look streaky at all. It is absolutely stunning. GREAT colour!

What? That name is not what I would have called it…. I do not see pink, but I do see a muted orangey red. It is a great colour for day time wear if you want to go 'red', because its not super dark or too vibrant. Its a pretty light orange/red kind of scenario… Hard to describe! Pretty though, and goes on great. On some skin tones, this looks a lot more orange than in my pictures. Be warned! I love orange though, so I'm okay with that. Red, orange, whatever…. I like this one.

But yeah, it aint pink. Just sayin'.

STUNNING! Dark, rich, luxurious red. This colour makes you look a million bucks. Its so rich and velvety looking… so smooth… so pigmented… UGH. This is a great one for those of you who enjoy reds. It is absolutely amazing!

So yep. That is that! I think these are worth picking up for sure. They are great for the price and great colors. I would probably skip out on Party Pink and Birthday Suit, but I know those two colors will appeal to others for sure. I definitely think there is a colour for everyone here, although it would have been nice to see a dark vampy purple or burgundy, and a peach.
